Overview
PaidHero is a Software as a Service (SaaS) platform used by licensed commercial service contractors (electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and roofing companies) in New Jersey. Contractors use PaidHero to send transactional invoice reminders to their own existing customers. Messages are sent only to individuals who have an active business relationship with a contractor, have received services, and reasonably expect invoice-related communications. Every contractor using PaidHero is contractually required to collect documented consent through one of the three methods detailed below.
The Three Approved Consent Methods
Every PaidHero contractor collects consent through at least one of these three methods. The exact disclosure language is identical across all three and is specified in PaidHero's Master Services Agreement.
Method 1 — Signed Service Agreement or Work Order
Written consent captured at the time of service engagement.
Before work begins, the customer signs a service agreement or work order that includes the Short Message Service (SMS) consent clause shown below. Contractors retain signed agreements for a minimum of four (4) years. Consent is evidenced by the customer's signature on the same document containing the disclosure.

Method 3 — Verbal Consent at Point of Scheduling
Phone-based consent with timestamped logging.
When a customer schedules service by phone, the contractor's dispatcher reads the disclosure script below and records timestamped consent in the contractor's system. Verbal consent logs are retained for a minimum of four (4) years.

Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. You can reply STOP anytime to opt out or HELP for help. We will not share your mobile information with third parties for marketing purposes. Do I have your permission to send you these texts?"

Platform-Level Compliance Safeguards
In addition to consent collection, PaidHero enforces the following safeguards at the platform level:
- Master Services Agreement contractually requires all three consent methods and specifies verbatim disclosure language
- Automatic opt-out handling across all contractors — STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT, OPTOUT, and REVOKE are honored immediately and permanently
- Cross-contractor opt-out propagation — if a number opts out from one contractor, that preference is recorded
- Content restrictions — no marketing, promotional, or lead-generation content permitted; messages are limited to invoice reminders
- Quarterly audits of a random sample of contractor consent records
- Four (4) year minimum retention of all consent records
- No mobile information shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes
